What: The World Veterinary Poultry Association
Who: British Veterinary Poultry Association with 2,181 delegates in attendance
Where: Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC)
When: 4-8 September 2017
The versatility of the venue and the stunning setting of the Opening Ceremony and Gala dinner were the main contributions to a very successful event.
With the support of Convention Edinburgh, the EICC and MCI, the Local Organising Committee was able to focus on developing the Congress Programme, a combination of invited international speakers and abstract submissions. This team approach increased delegate registration by over 50% and resulted in a truly memorable WVPA 2017.
Leveraging its global partnership agreements with hotels across the city and the expertise of its housing, abstract management and online registration hub accessed through a dedicated Congress website, MCI fully engaged potential and regular attendees to encourage participation.
Held every two years in a new location, British Veterinary Poultry Association (BVPA) appointed MCI as professional congress organiser to deliver the World Veterinary Poultry Association (WVPA) Congress held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (4-8 September 2017).
Working in partnership with the Local Organising Committee, Convention Edinburgh and the EICC, MCI was responsible for providing comprehensive congress organisation services for the WVPA 2017 Congress. MCI needed to arrange the venue, exhibition and hotel arrangements for delegates.
BVPA was looking for a collaborative approach to help them maximise participation, deliver a successful congress in Edinburgh and a highly memorable experience.
What was the purpose of the event?
Poultry veterinary experts and other avian health professionals gather from all over the globe to discuss the latest in avian research, including developments in pathology and poultry science.
What was your experience of the city during your stay?
The city provided a wonderful, all–encompassing destination to visit for our delegates. The hotel offering was good and all of our delegates were extremely well catered for in the heart of Edinburgh.
What influenced the event to come to Edinburgh?
BVPA were searching for a new location to host the WVPA Congress and decided on Edinburgh because of its rich history and unique appeal. They wanted their delegates to experience a little bit of Scotland and all of the attractions and culture that come with it.
