The U.S. Kids Golf European Championship organised by the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation is making a return visit to East Lothian. The tournament, which gives a million pound plus boost to the local economy, brings in talent from as far afield as Australia and Mauritius.
The tournament is contested at Craigielaw, The Glen, Gullane, Longniddry, and Luffness New. With five days of play culminating in the Ryder Cup style Van Horn Cup, junior golfers and their families often take the trip over as a family holiday and take the opportunity to explore East Lothian and beyond.
The European Championship runs in conjunction with the British Kids Championship, Venice Open and two European Local Tours to give junior golfers an aspirational and fun set of tournaments in which to compete.
Councillor John McMillan, East Lothian Council’s spokesperson for Economic Development and Tourism said:
It’s wonderful to welcome these budding young golfers back to East Lothian. I know that the players and their families thoroughly enjoy their time in our fantastic county with its scenery, warm hospitality and, of course, world-class golf courses.
