A capital landmark, formerly Headquarters of Royal Bank of Scotland, has been transformed into 50 individually designed and fully equipped luxury apartments. The Edinburgh Grand offers meeting spaces, a restaurant, bar, coffeehouse, glamorous hangout area and let’s not forget, one of the most picture-worthy views in the city.
The very first event at The Edinburgh Grand was held by Convention Edinburgh on Thursday 7 June – less than one week after the formal opening of the hotel. Around 60 Edinburgh Ambassadors and their partners attended the exclusive event, together with Convention Edinburgh.
Amanda Ferguson, Head of Business Tourism, said:
“We were absolutely delighted to host the first ever event at Edinburgh’s newest establishment. The Edinburgh Grand is a spectacular venue in the heart of the city’s St. Andrew square, boasting a stunning interior and breathtaking city views. The former bank has been brought back to life and has kept its former charm. I look forward to seeing it flourish in the coming months”
Guests were wowed by Edinburgh’s newest venue as they took in the 360◦ views during a champagne and canapés reception in the hotel’s premium Penthouse. Guests were also treated to a private tour of the hotel and cocktails in the Register Club.

The new establishment has an illustrious heritage, courtesy of a famous banking landmark, with the building’s background stylishly featuring throughout the luxurious new residence after a multi-million pound restoration project. Constructed during WWII, between 1936 and 1942, the building was formerly the headquarters of the National Bank of Scotland and subsequently became the global head office for the Royal Bank of Scotland until 2007. The hotel has reserved many authentic features throughout, including original marble columns, fireplaces, brass door handles and decorative cornicing.
Accommodating up to six guests, apartments come in a range of sizes, from uniquely configured Studios (26m2), to the impressive, three-bedroom, rooftop Penthouse with its 360◦ panoramic view (200m2). All apartments have en-suite bathrooms, fully-equipped kitchens and home entertainment to give you the true feeling of home away from home.
