In August, our new Client Visits & Events Executive joined the team and has hit the ground running, having a number of very successful events under his belt already. Most of our members across the city have likely met our new events expert in recent months, but for those who have not or would like to find out more, we are delighted to introduce Florian Chebance.
Please describe a typical day in the office
As Event & Client Visit Executive, the daily tasks can vary a lot from one day to another. It can go from looking for a suitable venue for an event to booking tickets for a site visit and everything in between; whether is it monitoring a guest list, confirming the final details of an event, arranging transportation or even choosing flowers!
Everything usually involves a lot of communication with either guests, members or the Marketing Edinburgh team. It also does include a bit of admin work as well to ensure that everything is processed correctly.
Between all this, there is always time for a hot chocolate!
What do you like most about working for Marketing Edinburgh?
I have to start with how welcoming the entire team has been so far. My colleagues here are undoubtedly one of the great aspects of working for Marketing Edinburgh.
I have been working in the hospitality and events industry in Edinburgh for about 6 years now and this new role has given me a great opportunity to put my previous experiences together and also to (re)discover some of the amazing services the city has to offer. I very much enjoy meeting people and socializing, and working closely with all our Members certainly does involve that!
I’d also like to add that I am now the proud reigning table tennis champion in the office!
What events have you worked on since joining?
I had the chance to organise our “Meet the team” as my first event, giving me a great opportunity to meet quite a lot of our Members and get to know them over a coffee.
However the most exciting event I have worked on so far has been the Ambassador Dinner on the 20th of September which was a very nice evening for all guests and a great personal experience!
What are you looking forward to working on in the coming months?
I only joined the team at the beginning of August so there are still plenty of events still to come, among which the most exciting one is certainly Destination Edinburgh in March 2019. This will no doubt be a great couple of days for both our guests and our members and it will be very interesting for me to work with various venues and members to put all the pieces together!
Closer to us, and as I am still a child inside, working on any Christmas events has always been a good experience – especially when you know how much fun it will be on the day!
What do you like to do when you’re not in the office?
I have a few hobbies, however socializing and meeting-up with my friends and family as often as possible is the main one. I recently started playing drums, enjoy playing basketball and also a bit of rock-climbing (trying at least…).
I am also a bit of a geek, so a lot of movies/TV shows are also on the weekly program along with a watching my favorite sports!
