Please describe a typical day in the office.

As Sales and Marketing Executive, the daily tasks can vary a lot from one day to another. It can go from ensuring that social media channels are kept active, promoting all that’s going on in the city and engaging with our members, monitoring and reporting on the website and putting together the quarterly newsletters.

Everything usually involves a lot of communication with either members or the wider Marketing Edinburgh team. It also does include a bit of admin work as well to ensure that everything is processed correctly.

What do you like most about working for Marketing Edinburgh?

I have to start with how welcoming the entire team has been so far. My colleagues here are undoubtedly one of the great aspects of working for Marketing Edinburgh.

I have recently graduated with an MSc in Marketing from the University of Liverpool and this new role has given me a great opportunity to build on this experience and at the same time discover some of the amazing services the city has to offer. I very much enjoy meeting people and socializing, and working closely with all our Members certainly does involve that!

What have you worked on since joining?

I had the chance to join in on our National Association FAM Trip in February as my first event, giving me a great opportunity to meet quite a lot of our Members during show rounds and it was the perfect opportunity to get to know the city.

I’ve worked on two week long social media campaigns as part of VisitScotland’s Legends, which included a week on surgery and medicine and a week on digital! Both of which involved featuring case studies from events held at member venues as well as liaising with Ambassadors to source blog content.

What are you looking forward to working on in the coming months?

I only joined the team at the beginning of January so there’s still plenty to get stuck into, among which the most exciting one is the re-launch of the Make It Edinburgh campaign, as well as events such as Destination Edinburgh in November. This will no doubt be a great couple of days for both our guests and our members and it will be very interesting for me to work with promoting the events.

What do you like to do when you’re not in the office?

Socializing and meeting-up with my friends and family as often as possible is the main one and often this involves making the long trip down to Gloucestershire to visit my family, but getting to see my two dogs definitely makes the journey worth it. I also enjoy playing football regularly, although, having recently moved to Edinburgh, I’m on the hunt for a Sunday league team to join. Finally, I’m still in student mode a little, so I find myself binge watching a lot of TV shows on Netflix along with a following the football and F1!
