Welcoming 18 event planners from across Europe, 28 members were involved in hosting an exceptionally strong itinerary, showcasing why Edinburgh is the perfect destination for inspiring conferences.
Upon arrival our clients checked in to the recently opened Mode Aparthotel in the city's New Town, before heading to an informal lunch at Hawksmoor. The evening setting was Edinburgh’s vibrant waterfront for a welcome dinner onboard Edinburgh's newest luxury floating venue and hotel, Fingal.
The following day, the main event kicked off with the headline workshop and networking lunch at the elegant Assembly Rooms in the New Town. This was an opportunity for members to connect directly with the buyers in 1-2-1 appoitments with 18 buyers.
“What a brilliantly organised event, with the perfect mix of venues, suppliers, attendees and hosts. I will not be alone in saying that each and every one of us found the time so very useful and have all left enthused and excited by what Edinburgh has to offer – and there is a lot! The workshops were particularly useful and very well paced, giving us the opportunity to put a face to the business card and also ask a few key questions as a preliminary to further conversations. I have thought a lot about what the highlight was for me and honestly, I can’t as there were several. We were treated to some absolutely fabulous sights, tastes and treats. It was all marvellous.”
Shaneen McEvoy, Crescendo.
Following the workshop clients had a couple of hours to clear their heads and discover Edinburgh by themselves before they were whisked away to Thirlestane Castle. Here, as guests of Edward and Sarah Maitland-Carew, we were treated to a gala dinner and private tour of this historic venue, complimented by an evening’s entertainment of all things Scottish provided by ReelTime Events.
"We were delighted to host this fam trip and meet so many interesting people from all over Europe. It was a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase Thirlestane Castle and what we have to offer the MICE market. Our events spaces are ready for incentives, meetings, private dining and away days. We are really keen to attract more business to Edinburgh and the surrounding area such as the Scottish Borders and hope we will have inspired some buyers to try something new."
Edward Maitland-Carew, Resident Trustee.
On Saturday, everyone reconvened for a morning exploring the city, battling all four seasons of weather to visit some of our finest hotels and venues, before finishing with lunch onboard the Red Bus Bistro, the perfect way to explore the city when the weather isn't playing ball!
“Thank you for the invitation to and phenomenal hospitality during Destination Edinburgh. It was a huge pleasure networking with everyone and getting to know the venues. Edinburgh is now definitely on my radar and I would be pleased to deliver a programme there soon.”
Joao Carvalho, Proske.
