Convention Edinburgh hosted 39 of the city’s ambassadors last month at an evening reception on board the city’s newest venue and hotel, Fingal.
One of the key facets of the Edinburgh Ambassador Programme are the regular networking events, which Convention Edinburgh organises in collaboration with our members. The long winter period was punctuated with a networking evening on board Edinburgh’s most hotly anticipated venue Fingal. Showcasing this venue/hotel over informal drinks and canapés gave us the ideal opportunity to catch up on conference bids and plans, as well as to share knowledge and experience.
A very welcome and unusual addition to the Edinburgh venue scene, Fingal has a unique history starting life as a lighthouse tender, helping maintain lighthouses and transporting their keepers, equipment and supplies to some of the most treacherous locations in Scotland. She has now been transformed into an exquisite 23-cabin boutique hotel and exclusive use venue by the award winning team at The Royal Yacht Britannia offering a special venue for dinner events and drinks receptions as part of a wider conference programme whilst also offering luxury and memorable accommodation for VIP guests.
Attendees were treated to drinks, canapés, and a tour of the unique cabins.
Head of Hospitality & Events, Andrew Thomson, said: “Fingal is like no other in Scotland. It is a privilege to take this historic ship and create a new, exciting and world-class addition to the Scottish tourism landscape. The craftsmanship and design, inspired by Fingal’s provenance and heritage, coupled with the best of Scotland’s larder will ensure our guests’ experience on Fingal is truly memorable.”
The event provided an opportunity to include ambassadors in early discussions on Convention Edinburgh’s ambition to develop a new generation of budding ambassadors. If this is something you would like to get involved with, please contact Claire MacGilp.
