Can there anywhere be a more beautiful and beguiling city..." Sir John Betjeman
Edinburgh Ambassadors are professional people from fields as varied as life sciences and technology, sport, leisure and law. They have a major influence over their international associations’ choice of conference destinations. Did you Know? Over 70% of international conferences are won due to the key role played by a local Ambassador.
There is a wealth of exciting developments in Edinburgh’s centres of excellence. Hosting a well-organised conference is the perfect way to put these developments on a world stage. As well as gain the recognition you deserve from professional colleagues, you will put the spotlight on Edinburgh and also give it a financial boost.
If a suitable Ambassador has not been identified already, we’ll find one from our extensive database of 1400 Ambassadors from all the major academic and commercial fields in which Edinburgh has an international reputation. These are individuals who have a high international profile and influence in their professional association.
An Edinburgh Ambassadors says:
'By having the conference on their home patch, our postgraduates and undergraduates benefit tremendously from getting involved on the floor, and meeting and hearing experts. They are exposed to the latest research and see the other side of university life to teaching. From a university's perspective there is prestige and international reputation, and there may be indirect benefits in future collaboration.'
Edinburgh Ambassador Professor Beth Alder, Clinical Psychology, Napier University brought the International Congress for Psychosomatic Obstetrics to Edinburgh

Thanks to the Edinburgh Ambassador Programme, we’ve attracted over 200 major conferences, generating more than £95 million in revenue to Edinburgh, since 1996. These conferences show Scotland's capital as a modern dynamic city that’s continuing to extend its centres of excellence into new fields of expertise and ground-breaking research.
