Can there anywhere be a more beautiful and beguiling city..." Sir John Betjeman
With the temporary closure of the Royal Museum for the next three years, inventive ECB members are offering a range of stunning alternative spaces for gala dinners.
And remember that the Museum's Hawthornden Court (pictured right) will remain open and can host dinners for up to 120 and receptions for up to 750 guests.
1 Prestonfield Pavilion
For some events even the spectacularly lavish setting of Prestonfield's 500-seat circular ballroom isn't quite large enough, so Prestonfield has recently introduced the option of dinner in the Prestonfield Pavilion. Seating up to 1000 guests for dinner, the pavilion takes advantage of Prestonfield's city location and appealing parkland setting with Arthur's Seat and Royal Holyrood Park as the backdrop.
The Prestonfield Pavilion was recently used by the Association of Corporate Treasurers who brought their annual conference back to Edinburgh again and chose Prestonfield as the dramatic setting for an 800-seat gala dinner which was the highlight of their conference. With drinks in the topiary-filled gardens before dinner and an atmospheric after-dinner club created in the circular stables for later, it ensured a memorable event.
Prestonfield's Pavilion is available for events from 400 to 1000 guests and provides an attractive, flexible and accessible venue in the heart of the Edinburgh with the advantages of Prestonfield's magical setting, restaurant-style food and all the polish you expect with James Thomson's renowned hospitality team on hand.
